CAMP ENROLMENT UPDATE Green Acres runs MANY amazing camp programs. See 'Our Family of Camps' webpage for more information. Camp is filling up fast, so please note the programs below that have few spaces left: Chipmunks & Beavers (Nursery and JK) - Please contact the camp office for space availability in July. Buffaloes (SK) - limited spaces are available in July. BOB Camp (3 Weeks Camp Green Acres and 1 Week Camp Wahanowin) - limited spaces are available in July. All-Star Sports Camp - Ball Hockey is waitlist only in Weeks 3 and 4 and has limited spaces available throughout the summer. The following All-Star Sports Camp programs have limited spaces in both July and August: Register early to ensure your preferred camp sessions for summer 2010. Please note that all applications are now being accepted on a "first come" basis. We do not want you or your friends to be disappointed as camp spaces are continuing to fill quickly. Camp Green Acres is the only day camp to offer the "No-Risk Camp Refund Policy". After more than 40 years in camping we are so confident in the excellence of our staff, our facilities, our programs and our activities that we know your child will just love our camp. We'll bet your camp fees on it! |

ONTARIO CAMPS ASSOCATION CONFERENCE SUMMARY From January 28th - 30th, several of our camp's head staff attended the annual OCA conference, which was held in Richmond Hill. Following the many memorable keynote speakers and workshops, we left everyday excited to apply all the new ideas and concepts we had learned. Some personal highlights included Jennifer Kolari, MSW, RSW and the author of Connected Parenting. She described her CALM technique of mirroring your child/campers’ emotions to help diffuse a situation rather than allowing or facilitating it to escalate. Why do we coo and empathize with a shivering 4-month old baby coming out of a bath, but tell the same 7-year old to “deal with it” and not make a big deal? This technique instructs the parent or counselor not just to listen, but to mirror the response to reflect the child’s emotions. Bob Ditter, child therapist and camp consultant, gave both an entertaining and insightful look into child and adolescent friendships and the changes that have resulted from the electronic age of texting, facebook and cell phones. The idea of camp being an important part of a child’s development resonated throughout the weekend – from rekindling their connection to nature to being immersed in a technology-free environment. Of note, our own Director, Robyn, was recognized with an award for her volunteer efforts with the OCA – congratulations! |

GREEN ACRES VIDEO OF THE MONTH We have over 50 videos currently on our YouTube page so we thought we would add a new feature to our Monthly E-Newsletter and share with you one video each month. This month's highlighted video is from our 2009 Theatre Program. Every camper loves our Broadway Style Musical Productions so why not highlight them in a video. Enjoy!

GREEN ACRES OPEN VISITS Open Visits are a great opportunity to bring the kids up to camp and tour our camp site and facilities. One of the Camp Directors will always be available to answer questions. Open Visits are from 10 a.m. to Noon. Upcoming Open Visit dates are: Sunday February 28 Our office is also open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. throughout March Break (March 15 to 19), we hope many of you will take the opportunity to come out for a visit and/or a tour! If you are a new camp family or are considering signing up for one of our camp programs we encourage you to attend one of these Open Visits. |

They are an incredibly talented group of people who become role models to our campers.
