CARNIVAL!

Our annual Green Acres Carnival took place campwide with activities like Face Painting, Pony Rides, and Limbo Dance. The camp was pumping with energy on this perfectly sunny day. Kids were cooling down with snow cones and rec swim, craving their sweet tooth with cotton candy and having an awesome time. Clown Police were on patrol passing out lollipops and keeping a close eye on the activities.

Dynamo Duck was also enjoying the sunshine with us as we celebrated the midway point of the camp season. Thank you to all for the fantantibulous day at camp!

CUTS FOR CAUSE

“On July 22nd, I cut 10' of my hair along with Jessica, a Grads camper, to donate to Angel Hair for Kids. Angel Hair for Kids is a charity that provides wigs at no charge to children who have lost their hair due to illness. Donating my hair was an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The feeling of knowing you are helping someone is absolutely amazing. The staff and campers were behind me the whole way, and their support was much appreciated. The week leading up to the event was exciting - collecting change for change to make a difference - but the day of was unbelievable. I could have never imagined so many people would pull together for such a great cause. Through finding change around the house, in just one day the Eagles raised over $275. That's almost as much as we raised in the 3 weeks leading up to the event!! I would like to thank everyone for their support and donations. Together we have made a difference in the life a child. Thank you everyone!!”

- Kendra, Eagles Unit Head

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

With two drama productions behind us, this week's production had big shoes to fill but with plenty of practice and guidance, the Seniors managed to pull off a flawless performance. Their reproduction of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast had the audience singing along to an old favorite. Theater Director, David said, “It’s awesome!” Congratulations Seniors! We had a great time.

"I like being in the theater acting and having fun because that's what it's all about. Being Mrs. Potts was a fun experience! It was a little bit of a challenge for the costumes but it was worth it in the end. I was excited performing for the camp. When the parents came some kids were nervous. I was helping them and felt fine!"

-Hailey Appel, Seniors #63

LTP UPDATE

“As the month of August quickly approaches, many LTPs are leaving camp for the rest of the summer. The LTPs this year were great people who were role models to many campers. The LTPs started their summer at Green Acres with a bang, a 3-day camping trip that involved going to the beach, toasting marshmallows, playing games and much more. Once the LTPs returned to camp, they chose which cabins, specialties or sports they wanted to do each week. They helped out everywhere from Cooking to Bears to Tennis at All-Stars Sports Camp. These future counselors enjoyed the kids, the activities and ultimately the entire camp. The LTPs who are leaving soon will have many happy memories of the fun times at Green Acres during July 2008.”

- Scott O'Conner, LTP
