Wow...What a great new website format with videos. I jumped to the staff area and watched the video. I must be getting old...tears came to my eyes as I watched it. What a great place it was...and still is. Have a great summer!

It's me aadam. I want to say that Being at Green Acres is like a second home. Thank you so much for letting me work at Green Acres. I love working there. When I was 13 years old I went to a camp called Camp discovery for 2 years when I was 19 years I went to a weekend camp called Footprints camp that was a weekend camp. You all are so great keep up the good work may you all always be happy and may all your wishes and dreams come true.

The 10 years I worked at Green Acres were the best summers of my life. I learned a lot about myself, it was here I learned that I wanted to be a teacher. I have realized that goal and teach my class each year the 'moose song' & the 'tarzan song'. We too play the greatest co-op games in the world and I bring my class each year to participate in an education programme that you offer. Once Green Acres gets a hold of you, it is a part of you for life. I made the greatest friends working here. Nadia is one of my dearest friends and godmother to my son. Jenn always comes for a visit when she is in town no matter how short her stay is. Leon and Eddy taught me so much about working with children, staff and parents, lessons that I use daily in my life. I could never thank them enough in one lifetime. Continue the fantantibulous work! You will be seeing my son and daughter as Chipmunks in the near future.

I hope that you still remember me. I worked for Green Acres as the Arts and Crafts Division Coordinator until 1998 and started your Copper Enamelling program back in 1991. Last we spoke I had married in Scotland. We now have our first child, a daughter, born last June.
I wanted to let you know that I checked out your web site and thought it was great. I looked through the Alumni photos and had fun finding familiar faces. I was not surprised to see that the camp has expanded its programs to lead the industry. I still remember all of my times at the camp warmly. I hope you are all well.

Green Acres has been such an amazing experience for me. I can't remember
what summers are like without G.A.! The staff and campers have taught me
so much about myself and pushing my limits to find out what I'm capable of
doing. Thanks for so many wonderful memories! :)

Hello to everyone at the happiest place on earth!!!
I can‚t help but think of Green Acres every first Monday or Tuesday in July
and wonder what kinds of happy beginnings and friendships are happening
today. My 9 years as a staff member at Green Acres were some of the best
days of my life. These days I have my summers free as a Grade 2 teacher,
but can‚t help thinking about the fun at camp. If you visit my classroom,
you can see shades of Green Acres everywhere - campfire style sing-songs,
great arts and crafts, some of the BEST co-operative games ever, science
experiments that blow you away and a teacher with camp-frenzied energy
everyday. Thanks for everything you taught me and I am who I am today
because of you!
Dynamo Duck ROCKS!

As the saying goes, you can take a girl out of Green Acres, but you can't take Green Acres out of a girl! Every time winter ends and things start to look like spring, I think of the summer and of my four awesome years at GA.
The GA theatre and the backstage area were like my second home, and I looked forward to coming back each year and putting on new productions with awesome casts. My "drama groupies" have grown up - many are old enough to be staff now, which makes me feel ANCIENT. I have also moved on, and am a very happy high school drama teacher in Toronto. The skills I honed at GA have prepared me for virtually anything I've encountered in my teaching career. Several of the plays I wrote for the GA theatre have also had second lives with my new students, who have enjoyed putting them on as much as my campers
did.
Now that Act One is taking over theatre at GA, I hope the same tradition of fun, hard work and talent cultivation continues in that little theatre. Also, if anyone messes up my backstage area, they're dead. LOL!

Well, what can I say about Green Acres except that it has been like another
home to me for the past 16 years and I will never, ever, forget anything
that I have done, learned, and experienced there from when I was a Beaver
Camper--all up until my 5th year working there as a Staff Worker. Eddy and
Leon, I have learned a lot from you over the past 16 years while being with
you two guys! You are the BEST!! :) Robyn and Darren--you both have been
great people to come to when I need advice and help and I thank you for
that!! :) And Amanda at Cedar Creek--you have been a great help to me over
the past 2 years when I was learning to become a Head Specialty Supervisor,
thanks. :)
I have so many memories that I have been keeping in my heart all these years
and each summer that I have returned, I gained many more memories! :) Thanks
so much Green Acres! :) I will never forget you! :) All the best! :)

My summer at Green Acres was the most memorable summer I will never forget.
It was filled with adventures and awesome campers and staff that contributed
to the summer of a lifetime. Green Acres not only helped me learn leadership
skills and build on other skills but it brought me so much closer to the
other staff members that could result in long lasting relationships. This is
the kind of place I would love to be in for my whole life. This camp is
filled with imagination.
Keep it up. And until next year.

Hi,
When june turns into july I think back to my 4 years at Green Acres, first
as a woodworking specialist and then as head of woodworking in the early
1990s. Has it been more then 10 years. I have to say that the experiences
at the camp have guided me in university and now as a electronics engineer.
I have since moved to montreal and then to the states. I usually get back
for a weekend over the summer and I always look around for the lawn bus
signs...
Good luck with the summer season that starts in 3 days!!! The website looks
fantantibulus and it looks like you have great new programs.
Thanks for the memories!

Hi,
Just wanted to say hello and that working at Green Acres was one of the
best times of my life!
I worked there in the summer of 1989 (I know its a long time ago!) with a
group of 15 four-year old Beavers! I still remember most of their
names.........
My job at Green Acres prepared me for several other jobs at Daycares and
Community Centres, and I ended up as Director of a camp for 5 years! I am
now a full time social worker.
Thanks for the memories Eddy and Leon and all of the Green Acres staff
team! Keep up the good work giving kids and staff some wonderful life
experience!
Sincerely,
Joanne Wilson - Junior Counsellor Beavers 1989

Well...what can I say after 15 years of being part of the Green Acres Family...? :) Eddy, Leon, Robyn, and Darren...all four of you guys made this summer a good one for me. I got my first chance to be a Head Supervisor at a specialty....especially when it was the first year that this specialty was taken part of the camp at Cedar Creek. I loved working as the Arts and Crafts Head Supervisor at Cedar Creek! I started off at Green Acres Day Camp when I was just 4 years old as a Beaver and look at me now! I staff member for the 4th year in a row! You guys did an amazing job this year and I can't wait to see what is in store for next summer! See you all in the Summer of 2004! All the best!

Hey Eddy and Leon,
I was just looking around on the web when i found the green acres web page.
I was looking at all the pictures and a ton of memories came to me. I had a

hope more people find it.
I have just graduated from McMaster University with an Honours BSc in

It was fun being a bear counsellor for the last five years
and I can't wait for my new experience this year. I want to shout out
to all who made my time as a bear fun and exciting. I will miss you
all but will remember to visit you. The bear unit will always be
number 1 in my heart and guys try to keep my tradition of acting wild
and crazy alive. Thanks again for all the wonderfull memories I love
you bears and you will always be in my heart. The legacy of the
shermanator will one day live on but we won't know when. You guys are
all the best and if you would like to contact me you can on icq at
17805759. Hope to hear from some people. The summer takes to long to
come every year but I will see you in the summer. I am a bear for life
and always in my heart. Peace Out.

Dear Leon and Eddy,
I came across your website in a parenting magazine while waiting for a dentist appointment. How exciting to know that the Beavers, Buffaloes, and Bears are still in existence! I have many wonderful memories of my many summers at Green Acres here in Montreal, as well as many old photographs. I now own my own Pre-Kindergarten Program, and run it out of one of the Schools in the Lester B. Pearson School Board. The Bakerman clan has been growing in leaps and bounds, with a third great grandchild on the way for my parents. I have a fifteen year old daughter, Mara who as I write this is competing for soccer in the Maccabi Games in Philadelphia. My youngest daughter Stephanie is twelve, and is an avid gymnast, and dancer!
Big Step is one of the places I still hold very dear, and I visit often. Some of the original staff still remains, and we stay in touch. My girls have been campers at Camp B'nai Brith Montreal, and Mara will most likely will be doing their S.I.T. program next summer. I hope all is well with you and your families!
Fondly,
Barbara Bakerman-Frost |
